يذكر أن بيكهام عُرف بنشاطه الإنساني والخيري حول العالم، وأنه ليس فقط نجم كرة قدم، وأصبح سفيراً لليونيسف منذ 2005، وأطلق صندوق «7 Fund» مع اليونيسف لدعم الأطفال في مجالات التعليم والحماية والصحة، وزار دولاً عديدة (في آسيا وأفريقيا وأمريكا اللاتينية) لتسليط الضوء على معاناة الأطفال، وتبرع بمبالغ كبيرة لجهات خيرية، وأحياناً تبرع برواتب أو مكافآت لصالح أعمال إنسانية، كما دعم حملات لتعليم الفتيات وتمكينهن في الدول النامية، وشارك في مباريات خيرية لجمع الأموال للمستشفيات والأطفال المحتاجين.
