فتح لاعب الأهلي السابق حسام أبو داوود قلبه لـ”عكاظ”، وسلط الضوء على تلك اللحظات الصعبة والمختلطة بين الواجب الوطني والمهني وبين الفقد الشخصي في نهائيات كأس الأندية الآسيوية 1986، فبين ألم الفقد وطموح المجد.. ذكرى ملحمة لا تنسى، فهي البطولة التي استضافها «قلعة الكؤوس» على ملعبه وبين جماهيره بجدة، وكان قاب قوسين أو أدنى من معانقة المجد القاري فيها. ففي تلك البطولة كانت خلف كواليسها قصة إنسانية بطلها النجم «حسام أبو داوود»، إذ دخل البطولة وهو يحمل في قلبه غصة رحيل والده- رحمه الله- قبل أيام قليلة من المحفل الكبير، مما جعله يغيب عن التشكيل الأساسي في المباراة الختامية أمام فريق دايو رويالز الكوري الجنوبي، مكتفياً بالتواجد على مقاعد البدلاء في أصعب لحظات مسيرته.

كانت بدايته مع «الراقي» مع الناشئين وتدرج بجميع الفئات حتى الفريق الأول، ساهم في تحقيق 4 بطولات، خاض بالقميص الأخضر قرابة 200 مباراة خلال 11 عاماً، ساهم في أكثر من 100 هدف ما بين صناعة وتسجيل، احرز قرابة 74 هدفاً، يحتل المرتبة الخامسة في قائمة الهدافين التاريخيين للنادي الأهلي.

كما أنه مثل المنتخب السعودي بجميع فئاته، مثل منتخب الوطن عام 1406 وكان مهاجماً بجانب الأسطورة ماجد عبدالله، خاض قرابة 12 مباراة سجل هدفين كان أحدهما في نهائي كأس الأفرو آسيوية أمام منتخب الكاميرون.

واليوم، نستعيد مع الكابتن حسام تلك الذكريات؛ كيف كان الصراع بين مشاعر الحزن الشخصي وبين الرغبة في إسعاد جماهير الأهلي، وماذا حدث في تلك الليلة التي خسر فيها «الراقي» اللقب رغم قتالية لاعبيه، وكيف عاش تلك الدقائق الحزينة على دكة الاحتياط.

• ما الذكرى التي لا تزال عالقة في ذهنك في بطولة 1986 ؟

•• شهدت تلك البطولة وفاة والدي في الأدوار التمهيدية، ورغم حزني الشديد شاركت أمام الاتحاد السوري في مباراة نصف النهائي، إذ كنت على دكة البدلاء بأمر من المدرب اليوغسلافي «بروشتش»، وفور نزولي سجلت هدف تأهل الأهلي للمباراة النهائية كأول فريق سعودي يصل للنهائي، وكانت كل الجماهير واللاعبين في قمة فرحتهم الغامرة بهذا الانتصار وأنا كنت أبكي لفقدان والدي رحمة الله.

• كيف استطعت تجاوز ألم وفاة والدك في هذا الوقت الحرج ؟

•• كان عمي الدكتور عبدالرزاق له دور كبير وفعال في ذلك، إذ قال لي لو كان والدك موجوداً لشاهدته في المدرجات يدعمك، إذ كان لهذه الكلمات وقعاً كبيراً في داخلي وحفزني على استعادة قواي في تلك المباراة.

• وماذ يعني لك ذلك الهدف الذي سجلته في مرمى الاتحاد السوري؟

•• يعني لي الشيء الكثير خصوصاً أنه جاء في الشوط الثاني من المباراة، إضافة إلى أنني كنت سبباً في أسعاد الجماهير الأهلاوية، التي وقفت معي وساندتني في وفاة والدي، واعتبره رد جميل لرجالات النادي الذين دائماً هم مع أبناء هذا الكيان.

• الأهلي يلعب النهائي الثاني على التوالي، كيف ترى هذا اللقاء؟

•• أثبت الأهلي أنه الفريق الأقوى في هذه البطولة، إذ إنه تمرّس عليها رغم قوتها وقوة الفرق المشاركة.

• بماذا تنصح لاعبي الأهلي قبل خوض النهائي الآسيوي؟

•• يجب عليهم التركيز واحترام الفريق المنافس «ماتشيدا الياباني»، وأخذ المباراة بجدية كاملة خصوصاً أنهم على أبواب إنجاز تاريخي لم يحققه أي فريق آسيوي، ورضانا يكتمل بتحقيق الكأس؛ لأنهم يملكون الخبرة الكافية في التعامل مع مجريات المباريات ومواجهة الفرق.

• مَن اللاعب الذي تتوقعه أن يحسم اللقاء؟

•• هناك الكثير من اللاعبين المميزين في صفوف الفريق تستطيع أن تراهن عليهم، فكل مباراة تجد لاعباً أو اكثر مميزاً فيها، وهذا ما يصعب موقف الخصوم خلال مواجهتهم الأهلي.

• الريمونتادا صفة تميز بها الأهلي هذا الموسم فما السر في رأيك؟

•• هذه الميزة التي يتمتع بها لاعبو الفريق الأهلاوي في الفترة الأخيرة خصوصاً في بطولة آسيا، إذ إن ثقة اللاعبين في أنفسهم حتى وأن تأخروا لا تهتز؛ لأنهم يملكون شخصية البطل الذي يصعب هزيمته حتى وإن تأخر أو لعب ناقصاً.

Amid the pain of loss and the ambition for glory, it is a memory of an unforgettable epic. It was the championship hosted by the “Castle of Cups” at its stadium and among its fans in Jeddah, where he was on the verge of embracing continental glory. Behind the scenes of that championship lay a human story with Hossam Abu Dawood as its hero, as he entered the tournament carrying the sorrow of his father’s passing—may God have mercy on him—just days before the grand event, which caused him to miss the starting lineup in the final match against the South Korean team Daewoo Royals, settling for a place on the bench during the toughest moments of his career.

He started with “The Elegant” in the youth teams and progressed through all categories until the first team, contributing to the achievement of 4 championships. He played nearly 200 matches in the green jersey over 11 years, contributing to more than 100 goals through assists and scoring, netting around 74 goals, ranking fifth on the list of the club’s all-time top scorers.

He also represented the Saudi national team at all levels, playing for the national team in 1406 as a forward alongside the legend Majed Abdullah. He participated in about 12 matches, scoring two goals, one of which was in the Afro-Asian Cup final against the Cameroon national team.

Today, we revisit those memories with Captain Hossam; how he struggled between personal grief and the desire to bring joy to Al-Ahli fans, and what happened on that night when “The Elegant” lost the title despite the fighting spirit of its players, and how he lived those sad minutes on the bench.

• What memory still lingers in your mind from the 1986 tournament?

•• I witnessed my father’s death during the preliminary rounds of that tournament, and despite my deep sadness, I participated against the Syrian Union in the semi-final match, as I was on the bench by the order of the Yugoslav coach “Prostich.” As soon as I entered the game, I scored the goal that qualified Al-Ahli for the final match as the first Saudi team to reach the final. All the fans and players were in a state of overwhelming joy over this victory while I was crying for the loss of my father, may God have mercy on him.

• How were you able to overcome the pain of your father’s death during this critical time?

•• My uncle, Dr. Abdul Razak, played a significant and effective role in that. He told me that if your father were here, he would have watched you from the stands supporting you. These words had a profound impact on me and motivated me to regain my strength in that match.

• What does that goal you scored against the Syrian Union mean to you?

•• It means a lot to me, especially since it came in the second half of the match. Additionally, I was a reason for bringing joy to the Al-Ahli fans, who stood by me and supported me during my father’s passing, and I consider it a beautiful response to the club’s officials who are always there for the sons of this entity.

• Al-Ahli is playing in the second consecutive final; how do you see this match?

•• Al-Ahli has proven to be the strongest team in this tournament, as it has gained experience despite its strength and the strength of the participating teams.

• What advice do you have for Al-Ahli players before the Asian final?

•• They must focus and respect the opposing team, “Matsumoto Yamaga,” and take the match very seriously, especially since they are on the verge of a historic achievement that no Asian team has accomplished. Our satisfaction will be complete with the achievement of the cup; because they have enough experience in handling match situations and facing teams.

• Who do you expect to be the player who decides the match?

•• There are many outstanding players in the team that you can bet on; in every match, you find one or more exceptional players, which complicates the situation for opponents when facing Al-Ahli.

• The comeback is a characteristic that Al-Ahli has distinguished itself with this season; what do you think is the secret?

•• This is a trait that the Al-Ahli players have exhibited recently, especially in the Asian Championship, as the players’ confidence in themselves does not waver even if they fall behind; because they possess the character of a champion who is difficult to defeat, even if they are behind or playing with fewer players.
