ارتفع رصيد قارة أوروبا (القارة العجوز) في حصد لقب كأس العالم إلى 13 لقباً مقابل 10 ألقاب لقارة أمريكا الجنوبية، وتناوبت 5 منتخبات على تحقيق ألقاب القارة العجوز، فيما حقق ألقاب قارة أمريكا الجنوبية 3 منتخبات فقط.
وجاء تحقيق منتخب إسبانيا للقب كأس العالم 2026 على حساب حامل اللقب منتخب اﻷرجنتين ليؤكد هيمنة القارة اﻷوروبية على لقب أكبر حدث كروي في العالم، وتمكن منتخب إسبانيا من استعادة أمجاده وتحقيق اللقب للمرة الثانية في تاريخه بعد غياب 16 عاماً، وذلك بعد أن تمكن من حصد كأس العالم للمرة اﻷولى في تاريخه في نسخة جنوب أفريقيا 2010 على حساب نظيره منتخب هولندا.
بهذا اللقب تمكن المنتخب اﻹسباني من احتلال المركز الرابع كأكثر المنتخبات تحقيقاً للقب متساوياً مع فرنسا واﻷوروغواي برصيد لقبين لكل منهم.
وما زال منتخب البرازيل يحتل قائمة أكثر المنتخبات تحقيقاً للقب برصيد 5 ألقاب (1958، 1962، 1970، 1994، 2002)، يليه كل من منتخب ألمانيا 4 ألقاب (1954، 1974، 1990، 2014)، ومنتخب إيطاليا ٤ ألقاب (1934، 1938، 1982، 2006)، ومن ثم منتخب اﻷرجنتين 3 ألقاب (1978، 1986، 2022)، وتساوت منتخبات فرنسا واﻷوروغواي وإسبانيا في تحقيق اللقب بواقع لقبين لكل منهم: فرنسا (1998، 2018)، إسبانيا (2010، 2026)، اﻷوروغواي (1930، 1950)، فيما جاء منتخب إنجلترا ثامناً بتحقيق اللقب مرة واحدة فقط وذلك عام 1966.
