يبحث منتخب البوسنة والهرسك عن كتابة التاريخ في أول مواجهة أوروبية يخوضها في كأس العالم 2026 عندما يواجه نظيره منتخب سويسرا عند تمام الساعة العاشرة من ليل اليوم الخميس ضمن لقاءات الجولة الثانية للمجموعة الثانية لمونديال 2026.
وكانت البوسنة والهرسك قد تأهلت إلى كأس العالم 2026 بطريقة تاريخية بعدما أطاحت بإيطاليا، وستسعى إلى إثبات أن ذلك لم يكن مجرد صدفة عندما تواجه قوة أوروبية أخرى تتمثل في سويسرا.
ولم يشارك المهاجم المخضرم إيدين دجيكو، البالغ من العمر 40 عاماً، في تعادل البوسنة والهرسك 1-1 في المباراة الافتتاحية أمام كندا، إحدى الدول المستضيفة، في تورونتو، لكنه سيكون متاحاً للمدرب سيرغي بارباريز، في محاولة فريقه لتحقيق مفاجأة جديدة أمام متصدر المجموعة الثانية.
وأكد المدرب باباريز في مؤتمره الصحفي والذي نشره موقع اﻻتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) عبر موقعه الإلكتروني في الشبكة العنكبوتية، أن فريقه «أظهر في الآونة الأخيرة أننا قادرون على التفوق أمام منافسين أقوى منا على الورق».
ورفض المدرب التوقعات التي تشير إلى أن لاعبي سويسرا سيتوقعون الفوز على منتخب يتأخر عنهم بفارق 44 مركزاً في التصنيف العالمي للاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، وقال: لكل شخص الحق في امتلاك رأيه الخاص وإظهار ثقته، وأضاف: عندما كنا نلعب أمام إيطاليا في الملحق، كان هناك شعور مشابه في العلن، لكننا حافظنا على تركيزنا على أنفسنا.
