مع كل نسخة جديدة من كأس الخليج العربي لا تعود المنافسة على اللقب فقط، بل تعود معها حكايات النجوم الذين صنعوا أمجاد الكرة الخليجية، واللحظات التي تحولت إلى جزء من الذاكرة الرياضية لأبناء المنطقة.
ومع انطلاق «خليجي 27» في جدة تستحضر الجماهير أسماءً تألقت فوق المستطيل الأخضر، وقصصاً لا تزال تُروى رغم مرور السنوات، في بطولة نجحت منذ 1970 في أن تكون أكثر من مجرد حدث رياضي، بل ملتقى للذكريات والنجوم والتاريخ.
وقال مدرب اللياقة البدنية وكرة القدم محمد السليم لـ«عكاظ»: كأس الخليج لعبت دوراً محورياً في صناعة أساطير الكرة الخليجية، حيث كانت بوابة الشهرة والنجومية لكوكبة من اللاعبين، ومن أبرزهم الكويتيان جاسم يعقوب وفيصل الدخيل، والسعودي ماجد عبدالله، والعراقيان حسين سعيد وأحمد راضي، والإماراتي عدنان الطلياني، والعماني عماد الحوسني، والبحريني علاء حبيل.
وأضاف أن حراسة المرمى كانت أحد أسرار نجاح المنتخبات، حيث برزت أسماء استثنائية مثل البحريني حمود سلطان، والسعودي محمد الدعيع، والعراقي رعد حمودي، والكويتي أحمد الطرابلسي، والعماني علي الحبسي.
وأشار إلى أن تاريخ البطولة زاخر بالقصص، منها التتويج العراقي التاريخي في أواخر السبعينات بعد سنوات من السيطرة الكويتية، ونجاح قطر في إحراز لقبها الأول 1992، وتحقيق الإمارات لقبها الأول 2007، والإنجاز العماني في «خليجي 19» عندما توج باللقب لأول مرة على أرضه وبين جماهيره.
وأوضح السليم أن الجماهير ارتبطت أيضاً بالأصوات التي صاحبت المباريات، وفي مقدمتها المعلق الكويتي خالد الحربان الذي كان جزءاً من ذاكرة البطولة.
وأكد أن كأس الخليج شهدت تطوراً كبيراً على مستوى التنظيم والبنية التحتية والأداء الفني، بفضل الملاعب الحديثة والتغطية المتطورة وارتفاع معدلات الاحتراف والاستعانة بأجهزة فنية عالمية.
واختتم حديثه بالتأكيد على أن «خليجي 27» تمثل فرصة لإضافة فصول جديدة، فسر نجاح كأس الخليج لا يكمن في المنافسة فقط، بل في قدرتها على جمع الشعوب الخليجية حول شغف واحد وصناعة ذكريات تبقى حاضرة مهما تعاقبت الأجيال.

As “Gulf 27” kicks off in Jeddah, fans recall names that shone on the green pitch, and stories that are still told despite the passing years, in a tournament that has succeeded since 1970 in being more than just a sporting event, but a gathering of memories, stars, and history.
Fitness and football coach Mohammed Al-Saleem told “Okaz”: The Gulf Cup has played a pivotal role in creating legends of Gulf football, as it was the gateway to fame and stardom for a constellation of players, including Kuwaitis Jassim Yaqoub and Faisal Al-Dakhil, Saudi Majed Abdullah, Iraqis Hussein Saeed and Ahmed Radhi, Emirati Adnan Al-Talyani, Omani Imad Al-Hosni, and Bahraini Alaa Habib.
He added that goalkeeping was one of the secrets of the success of the national teams, as exceptional names emerged such as Bahraini Hamoud Sultan, Saudi Mohammed Al-Deayea, Iraqi Raad Hamoudi, Kuwaiti Ahmed Al-Trablosi, and Omani Ali Al-Habsi.
He pointed out that the history of the tournament is rich with stories, including Iraq’s historic victory in the late seventies after years of Kuwaiti dominance, Qatar’s success in winning its first title in 1992, the UAE achieving its first title in 2007, and the Omani achievement in “Gulf 19” when it won the title for the first time on home soil among its fans.
Al-Saleem explained that fans have also connected with the voices that accompanied the matches, foremost among them Kuwaiti commentator Khalid Al-Harban, who was part of the tournament’s memory.
He confirmed that the Gulf Cup has witnessed significant development in terms of organization, infrastructure, and technical performance, thanks to modern stadiums, advanced coverage, increased professionalism, and the use of world-class coaching staff.
He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that “Gulf 27” represents an opportunity to add new chapters, as the secret to the success of the Gulf Cup lies not only in competition but in its ability to unite the Gulf peoples around a shared passion and create memories that remain present regardless of the passing generations.
