كشفت ميرهان الريس، ابنة الفنانة الراحلة مديحة كامل، تفاصيل جديدة عن حياة والدتها بعيدًا عن الأضواء، متحدثة عن الأسباب التي دفعتها إلى اعتزال الفن، والمرحلة التي كرست خلالها حياتها لدراسة الدين والتقرب إلى الله، إلى جانب توضيحها حقيقة الحالة الصحية التي سبقت وفاتها.
مرض الجدة كان نقطة التحول
وأوضحت ميرهان في تصريحات تلفزيونية أن والدتها كانت تواصل نشاطها الفني في ذلك الوقت، إذ كانت تعمل في مسرحية مع الفنان الراحل سعيد صالح، بالتزامن مع مشاركتها في فيلم «بوابة إبليس»، إلا أن إصابة جدتها بجلطة في المخ شكلت صدمة كبيرة لها.
وأضافت أن تدهور حالة جدتها الصحية خلال فترة قصيرة، وما صاحب ذلك من تغيرات جسدية شديدة، جعل مديحة كامل تعيد التفكير في حياتها وتدرك، بحسب وصف ابنتها أن كل شيء في الدنيا زائل، وهو ما دفعها في النهاية إلى اتخاذ قرار الاعتزال والتفرغ للعبادة ودراسة الدين.
حياتها بعد الاعتزال
وأشارت ميرهان إلى أن والدتها اهتمت بعد اعتزالها بقراءة كتب الفقه والسنة والشريعة، إلى جانب القرآن الكريم وتفسيره، كما كانت تتابع خواطر الشيخ محمد متولي الشعراوي، وتحضر دروس الدكتور عمر عبد الكافي وتستمع إلى تسجيلاته.
ونفت أن تكون والدتها قد أجبرتها على ارتداء الحجاب، موضحة أن مديحة كامل ارتدت الحجاب عام 1991، ثم تحدثت معها بشأن الأمر، لكنها لم تستجب في البداية قبل أن تتخذ قرارها بنفسها وترتدي الحجاب بعد نحو شهرين.
تفاصيل الأيام الأخيرة
وتطرقت ابنة مديحة كامل إلى الحالة الصحية لوالدتها، موضحة أنها أصيبت بالروماتويد عام 1988، وخضعت للعلاج مع استمرارها في العمل الفني، قبل أن يتسبب المرض لاحقًا في تعرضها لمياه على القلب.
وأضافت أن والدتها تلقت العلاج بالكورتيزون، ما أدى إلى زيادة وزنها، لكنها تعافت بعد فترة وعادت حالتها القلبية إلى الاستقرار، مؤكدة أن وفاتها جاءت بصورة مفاجئة نتيجة هبوط حاد في الدورة الدموية، ونفت ما تردد بشأن إصابتها بورم أو تلقيها العلاج في لندن.

وكشفت ميرهان عن عدد من الفنانات اللاتي استمرت علاقتهن بوالدتها بعد اعتزالها، ومن بينهن سهير رمزي، وسهير البابلي، وميرفت أمين.
كما أشارت إلى أن الفنانة الراحلة شادية حضرت حفل زفافها رغم عدم اعتيادها حضور المناسبات، بينما كانت تلتقي شمس البارودي خلال دروس الدين، في حين ظلت هالة فؤاد على تواصل مع مديحة كامل قبل مرضها ووفاتها بفترة قصيرة.
Mirhan El-Reis, the daughter of the late artist Madihah Kamel, revealed new details about her mother’s life away from the spotlight, discussing the reasons that led her to retire from art, the phase during which she dedicated her life to studying religion and getting closer to God, as well as clarifying the truth about her health condition prior to her passing.
Grandmother’s Illness Was the Turning Point
Mirhan explained in television statements that her mother was continuing her artistic activity at that time, as she was working in a play with the late artist Said Saleh, alongside her participation in the film “The Gate of Hell.” However, her grandmother’s stroke was a huge shock for her.
She added that the rapid deterioration of her grandmother’s health, along with the severe physical changes that accompanied it, made Madihah Kamel rethink her life and realize, according to her daughter’s description, that everything in this world is fleeting. This ultimately led her to make the decision to retire and dedicate herself to worship and studying religion.
Her Life After Retirement
Mirhan indicated that after her retirement, her mother focused on reading books on jurisprudence, Sunnah, and Sharia, in addition to the Holy Quran and its interpretation. She also followed the thoughts of Sheikh Mohammed Metwally Al-Shaarawy and attended Dr. Omar Abdel Kafi’s lessons and listened to his recordings.
She denied that her mother had forced her to wear the hijab, explaining that Madihah Kamel wore the hijab in 1991, and then discussed the matter with her, but she did not respond at first before making her own decision to wear the hijab about two months later.
Details of the Last Days
Madihah Kamel’s daughter addressed her mother’s health condition, explaining that she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1988 and underwent treatment while continuing her artistic work, before the illness later caused her to suffer from fluid around the heart.
She added that her mother received corticosteroid treatment, which led to weight gain, but she recovered after a while and her heart condition stabilized, confirming that her death came suddenly due to acute circulatory failure, and she denied rumors about her having a tumor or receiving treatment in London.
Stars Who Maintained Their Friendship
Mirhan revealed several artists who maintained their relationship with her mother after her retirement, including Suhair Ramzy, Suhair El-Babli, and Mervat Amin.
She also pointed out that the late artist Shadia attended her wedding despite not usually attending events, while she would meet Shams Al-Baroudi during religious lessons, and Hala Fouad remained in contact with Madihah Kamel shortly before her illness and passing.
