هنأ حارس المنتخب البحريني السابق حمود سلطان المملكة العربية السعودية قيادةً وشعبًا بمناسبة اليوم الوطني، معربًا عن محبته وتقديره للمملكة وشعبها.
وتحدث سلطان عن واقع كرة القدم الخليجية والفوارق بين المنافسات في الوقت الحالي وما كانت عليه في السابق، مشيرًا إلى أن المنتخبات الخليجية في الماضي كانت تزخر بعدد كبير من النجوم البارزين، وهو ما كان يمنح المباريات والبطولات طابعًا تنافسيًا وحماسًا مختلفًا.
وقال سلطان إن الفرق في السابق كانت تضم خمسة أو ستة نجوم، وربما أكثر، ممن يصنعون الفارق داخل الملعب، مضيفًا: «في السابق كانت كل دولة تملك نجومًا بمعنى الكلمة، وكان الحماس مختلفًا، كما أن نظام البطولة كان مختلفًا لأن المنتخبات كانت تلعب جميعها أمام بعضها البعض».
وأشار إلى أن تغيير نظام المنافسات وتقسيم المنتخبات إلى مجموعات أثّر على طبيعة المواجهات الخليجية، إذ لم يعد كل منتخب يواجه جميع المنتخبات المشاركة كما كان يحدث سابقًا.
وعن تقييمه للمستويات الحالية وحظوظ المنتخبات، أكد حارس البحرين السابق أن المنافسة تبدو متقاربة، ولا يوجد منتخب يتفوق بصورة واضحة على بقية المنتخبات، وقال: «كلهم في المستوى نفسه تقريبًا، ولا أتوقع أن هناك فريقًا أفضل من الآخر، وقد تكون هناك فوارق بسيطة في بعض الأحيان، لكن حتى الآن المستويات متقاربة».
وشدد سلطان على أن العامل النفسي والقدرة على التحكم في المشاعر والأعصاب سيكونان من العناصر المهمة في تحديد المنتخب القادر على الذهاب بعيدًا في المنافسة، خصوصًا أن مباريات المنتخبات الخليجية تتمتع بطابع خاص.
وأضاف أن الروابط الأخوية بين أبناء دول الخليج تزيد من حماس هذه المواجهات ورغبة كل منتخب في تقديم أفضل ما لديه، معتبرًا أن التعامل بهدوء مع الضغوط والانفعالات داخل الملعب قد يصنع الفارق في المباريات المتقاربة.
The former goalkeeper of the Bahraini national team, Hamoud Sultan, congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, and its people on the occasion of National Day, expressing his love and appreciation for the Kingdom and its people.
Sultan spoke about the reality of Gulf football and the differences between current competitions and those in the past, noting that Gulf teams in the past were rich with a large number of prominent stars, which gave matches and tournaments a different competitive spirit and excitement.
He stated that teams in the past included five or six stars, and perhaps more, who made a difference on the field, adding: “In the past, every country had stars in the true sense of the word, and the excitement was different, as the tournament system was different because all teams played against each other.”
Sultan pointed out that the change in the competition system and the division of teams into groups affected the nature of Gulf confrontations, as not every team now faces all participating teams as was the case previously.
Regarding his assessment of the current levels and the chances of the teams, the former Bahraini goalkeeper confirmed that the competition appears to be close, and there is no team that clearly excels over the others. He said: “They are all at about the same level, and I do not expect that there is a team better than another; there may be slight differences at times, but so far the levels are close.”
Sultan emphasized that the psychological factor and the ability to control emotions and nerves will be important elements in determining which team can go far in the competition, especially since matches between Gulf teams have a special character.
He added that the brotherly ties among the people of the Gulf countries increase the excitement of these confrontations and the desire of each team to present its best performance, considering that handling pressure and emotions calmly on the field could make a difference in closely contested matches.
