أكد المدير الفني للمنتخب العراقي لكرة القدم، غراهام أرنولد، أن الهدف الرئيسي والوحيد للمنتخب في المرحلة القادمة هو تحقيق الفوز والانتصار في المواجهة المرتقبة أمام نظيره الكويتي. وأوضح أن الفريق بات أفضل فنياً وبدنياً بعد نجاحه في التكيف مع العوامل المناخية ونسب الرطوبة العالية.
جاء ذلك خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الرسمي الذي عقده المدرب للحديث عن تحضيرات “أسود الرافدين” لمباراة الكويت، حيث أعرب أرنولد عن تفهمه الكامل لـ “زعل” وعتب الجماهير العراقية ومطالبها المستمرة، واعداً إياهم بتقديم الأفضل وبذل قصارى الجهد في المباراة القادمة لتعديل المسار وإسعاد الشعب العراقي.

وأشاد المدرب بأجواء المعسكر التدريبي ووصف التدريبات الأخيرة بـ “المثالية”، مشيراً إلى أنه يعمل بجد من أجل بناء مستقبل الكرة العراقية. وكشف أرنولد عن طبيعة القائمة الحالية قائلاً: “لدينا 50% ممن شاركوا في كأس العالم، ومثلهم من العناصر الشابة والجديدة، وهم يشكلون خليطاً ممتازاً يمتلك الشغف الكبير لتقديم الأفضل”. وأضاف أن هذه البطولة تعد فرصة عظيمة للاعبين الشباب لإثبات قدراتهم ومساعدة الفريق في تحقيق الانتصارات.

وفيما يتعلق بالتحضيرات التكتيكية، أكد الجهاز الفني أنه تابع المنتخب الكويتي بدقة ويمتلك معرفة مسبقة وتفصيلية بجميع لاعبيه ومفاتيح لعبهم الفنية. وحول الصعوبات اللوجستية، أشار أرنولد إلى أن فترة اليومين لم تكن كافية لتعديل المسار الفني بالكامل، خاصة في ظل الظروف المناخية الصعبة التي يمر بها الفريق.
