يقدم قائد المنتخب السعودي محمد كنو لنظيره قائد المنتخب الكويتي علماً تذكارياً، تمت حياكته بأيدٍ وطنية من طلاب المعهد الملكي للفنون التقليدية، والذي يحاكي الشال السعودي في ذكرى الاحتفال باليوم الوطني للمملكة.
ويأتي ذلك قبل انطلاق مباراة السعودية والكويت ضمن منافسات كأس الخليج العربي “خليجي 27″، التي تستضيفها المملكة للمرة الخامسة في تاريخها، وللمرة الأولى في مدينة جدة تحت رعاية خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، خلال الفترة من 23 سبتمبر إلى 6 أكتوبر 2026، بمشاركة ثمانية منتخبات تتنافس على اللقب.
ويدخل المنتخب السعودي منافسات النسخة السابعة والعشرين بطموح استعادة اللقب الغائب منذ تتويجه الأخير في “خليجي 16” عام 2003، مستنداً إلى سجل يضم ثلاثة ألقاب حققها في أعوام 1994 و2002 و2003، حيث يخوض “الأخضر” البطولة تحت قيادة المدير الفني اليوناني جورجيوس دونيس الذي تولى المهمة في أبريل الماضي، سعياً لقيادة المنتخب إلى المنافسة على اللقب أمام جماهيره.
في المقابل، يتطلع المنتخب الكويتي إلى استعادة أمجاده الخليجية وتعزيز رقمه القياسي في عدد مرات الفوز بالبطولة، بعدما توج باللقب عشر مرات أعوام 1970 و1972 و1974 و1976 و1982 و1986 و1990 و1996 و1998 و2010. ويعول “الأزرق” على خبرة مدربه البرتغالي هيليو سوزا وعدد من لاعبيه أصحاب الخبرة لتحقيق بداية قوية في مشواره بالبطولة.
وسبق للمنتخبين السعودي والكويتي أن التقيا في 15 مواجهة ضمن تاريخ البطولة، فاز المنتخب السعودي في ثلاث منها مقابل خمسة انتصارات للكويت، فيما انتهت سبع مباريات بالتعادل.

This comes ahead of the match between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the Gulf Cup “Gulf 27,” which the Kingdom is hosting for the fifth time in its history, and for the first time in the city of Jeddah under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, from September 23 to October 6, 2026, with the participation of eight teams competing for the title.
The Saudi national team enters the 27th edition of the tournament with the ambition of reclaiming the title that has eluded them since their last victory in “Gulf 16” in 2003. They rely on a record that includes three titles won in 1994, 2002, and 2003. The “Green” team is competing in the tournament under the leadership of Greek coach Georgios Donis, who took over the role last April, aiming to lead the team to compete for the title in front of their fans.
On the other hand, the Kuwaiti national team is looking to restore its Gulf glories and enhance its record for the most tournament wins, having claimed the title ten times in 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1996, 1998, and 2010. The “Blue” team is counting on the experience of their Portuguese coach Helio Sousa and several experienced players to achieve a strong start in their tournament journey.
The Saudi and Kuwaiti national teams have previously met in 15 encounters in the tournament’s history, with the Saudi team winning three of them compared to five victories for Kuwait, while seven matches ended in a draw.
