أعرب ينز فيسينغ، مدرب الاتحاد، عن ارتياحه لحصول فريقه على نقطة من أمام الشمال القطري في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد البيت بقطر في افتتاحية لقاءات الجولة الأولى لدوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة.
وشهد اللقاء تقدم فريق الشمال بهدف بغداد بونجاح قبل أن ينجح الاتحاد في إدراك التعادل عن طريق جورجينو فينالدوم من آخر تسديدة في المباراة.
وقال فيسينغ بعد المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عقده بعد نهاية المباراة: «كانت مواجهة صعبة أمام منافس قوي. لقد مررنا ببعض الأسابيع الصعبة، وشهدت المباراة تقلبات، مع حصول كلا الفريقين على فرص، لقد افتقدنا الحدة واتخاذ القرارات الصحيحة في الثلث الهجومي، أنا سعيد لأننا لم نفقد الأمل؛ التعادل نتيجة عادلة للفريقين، بالنظر إلى أن المباراة لم تكن مفتوحة، وسنحاول الاستفادة من فترة التوقف الدولي القادمة للعمل على إجراء التحسينات». وختم فيسينغ حديثه قائلاً: «سنستفيد من فترة التوقف للراحة قبل العودة إلى العمل؛ هناك العديد من الجوانب التي نريد تحسينها».
فيما أشاد ديفيد براتس مدرب نادي الشمال القطري بفريقه بعدما قدم أداءً قتالياً، حيث قال: قدمنا أداءً ممتازاً ورائعاً طوال المباراة، باستثناء الدقائق الأخيرة التي استقبلنا خلالها هدف التعادل، أنا فخور بالأداء والروح والمستوى الذي أظهره اللاعبون الأساسيون والبدلاء على حد سواء، ولقد أظهروا جميعاً قدرة الشمال على تمثيل كرة القدم القطرية بكل فخر على أعلى المستويات. ومع ذلك، أقر براتس بأنه يشعر بالندم لأن الفوز انتزع من فريقه في الثواني الأخيرة من المواجهة.

Yenz Vissing, the coach of Al-Ittihad, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s point earned against Al-Shamal in the match that took place at Al-Bayt Stadium in Qatar during the opening of the first round of the AFC Champions League for the elite.
The match saw Al-Shamal take the lead with a goal from Baghdad Bounedjah before Al-Ittihad managed to equalize through Georginio Wijnaldum with the last shot of the match.
Vissing said after the press conference held at the end of the match: “It was a tough encounter against a strong opponent. We have gone through some difficult weeks, and the match had its ups and downs, with both teams having opportunities. We lacked sharpness and making the right decisions in the attacking third. I am happy that we did not lose hope; the draw is a fair result for both teams, considering that the match was not open, and we will try to benefit from the upcoming international break to work on making improvements.” Vissing concluded his remarks by saying: “We will take advantage of the break to rest before returning to work; there are many aspects we want to improve.”
Meanwhile, David Brats, the coach of Al-Shamal, praised his team for their fighting performance, stating: “We delivered an excellent and wonderful performance throughout the match, except for the last few minutes when we conceded the equalizing goal. I am proud of the performance, spirit, and level shown by both the starting players and the substitutes; they all demonstrated Al-Shamal’s ability to represent Qatari football with pride at the highest levels. However, Brats admitted that he felt regret because the victory was snatched from his team in the final seconds of the encounter.
He explained: “Of course, I feel regret for losing two points in the last moments due to a lack of experience in dealing with such a major competition, but this is part of the learning and development process for the team.” He concluded his remarks by saying: “Conceding the goal in the final minutes was not due to fatigue or physical issues; everyone fought hard and gave their all throughout the match.”
