أكد المدير الفني لفريق الخلود ديس باكنغهام، أن فريقه سيدخل مواجهة نهائي أغلى الكؤوس أمام الهلال دون أي ضغوط نفسية، واصفاً الوصول إلى هذه المرحلة بالإنجاز التاريخي للنادي الذي يمتد تاريخه لأكثر من 70 عاماً.
وفي إجابته عن سؤال «عكاظ» حول مدى تخوفه من تكرار سيناريو الخسارة القاسية أمام الهلال بنتيجة (6-0) في الدوري، واعتماد فريقه على الضغط العالي، قال: «بالتأكيد تعلمنا درساً قاسياً من تلك المباراة، الهلال فريق قوي جداً واستغل المساحات وتسبب لنا في مشكلات كبيرة، لكن مباريات الكؤوس تختلف تماماً في حساباتها الفنية وتجهيزاتها الذهنية».
وأضاف: «حللنا الأخطاء السابقة، وسنعمل على إغلاق مفاتيح اللعب وتطبيق تكتيك يتناسب مع قوة المنافس، مع الحفاظ على الهوية التي ميزتنا في المباريات الأخيرة، والتي استعدنا خلالها ثقتنا ورتمنا الفني».
وعن الغيابات، رفض باكنغهام الكشف عن موقف اللاعب إنريكي، واصفاً الأمر بأنه «سر» سيتحدد بعد المران الأخير، مؤكداً في الوقت ذاته أن الفريق يعيش أفضل حالاته البدنية والذهنية بعد تجاوز فترة التوقف.
واختتم باكنغهام حديثه لـ«عكاظ» برسالة إلى الجماهير، قائلاً: «نعلم أن الغلبة الجماهيرية ستكون للهلال، لكننا سنلعب من أجل عائلاتنا وأهالي الرس، وندعو كل من لا يشجع الهلال إلى مساندة الخلود في هذه المهمة الصعبة.

He added: “We have analyzed the previous mistakes, and we will work on closing the playmaking keys and applying a tactic that suits the strength of the opponent, while maintaining the identity that distinguished us in the recent matches, during which we regained our confidence and our technical rhythm.”
Regarding absences, Buckingham refused to disclose the status of player Enrique, describing the matter as a “secret” that will be determined after the final training session, while also confirming that the team is in its best physical and mental condition after overcoming the break period.
Buckingham concluded his remarks to “Okaz” with a message to the fans, saying: “We know that the majority of the fans will be for Al-Hilal, but we will play for our families and the people of Al-Rass, and we invite everyone who does not support Al-Hilal to support Al-Khulood in this difficult mission.
